The Red Sox kicked off the back half of the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft by selecting three college pitchers, one college position player, and one high school position player.
Here are brief recaps of selections 11 through 15:
11. Wills Maginnis, SS, Georgia State
12. Jacob Webster, SS, Oak Hills HS (CA)
Webster was taken with the 364th overall pick out of Oak Hills High School in Oak Hills, Calif. A two-sport athlete who also played football, Webster is currently committed to Loyola Marymount University. The switch-hitting 18-year-old possesses plenty of athleticism and a projectable 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame. He has prior pitching experience as well.
13. Mason Lei, RHP, Illinois-Chicago
Lei was taken with the 394th overall pick out of the University of Illinois-Chicago. The 21-year-old righty posted a 4.56 ERA with 86 strikeouts to 19 walks in 16 starts (96 2/3 innings) for the Flames as a junior this past spring and was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team. He previously attended Rock Valley College. At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Lei operates with a low-90s fastball and a 79-80 mph slider.
14. Jase Evangelista, RHP, UNLV (NV)
15. Chase Frey, LHP, Grand Canyon (AZ)
Frey was taken with the 454th overall pick out of Grand Canyon University. The 21-year-old lefty posted a 4.79 ERA with 69 strikeouts to 17 walks across 13 outings (12 starts) spanning 67 2/3 innings for the Antelopes as a junior this past spring. He also appeared in five games for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League this summer. Frey split the first two seasons of his collegiate career between Shoreline Community College and the College of Southern Nevada. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound southpaw is committed to transferring to Oregon.
