A cactus ended up through a car’s windshield when the driver struck the Saguaro after crossing the median Wednesday morning in Tucson, according to Pima County Sheriff’s Department officials.

Deputies responded around 9:30 a.m. to a single vehicle collision involving a cactus, near 1st Avenue and Agave Place, Daniel Jelineo, a spokesperson for the department, said.

According to Jelineo, a black sports car was heading southbound on 1st Avenue, approaching Agave Place when it crossed over the median striking the Saguaro cactus.

Part of the Saguaro ended up through the passenger side of the windshield, Jelineo said.

The driver was the only one in the vehicle and had minor injuries. He was detained for further investigation after deputies observed signs and symptoms associated with impairment, Jelineo said.

No arrests have been made at this time.
