The ‘Palworld’ Stats To Level First, Those To Ignore And How To Respec

I am currently neck-deep in Palworld for the first time since 2024, returning to the addictive game to find it no less addictive in its finalized 1.0 official release. I have it open right now as I’m writing, letting my Pals head out on expeditions on a 30-minute timer to bring me stuff. Let me check that right now, actually….okay, 11 minutes left.
You may have some questions about Palworld if you’re just getting into it, including one important one right at the start: What stats should you be investing in?
Palworld Stats to Prioritize
Carry Weight (S-Tier) – If you start farming well, anything, you will quickly realize that you are running out of carry weight almost immediately, given how heavy things like Ore are in particular, and how much you need to farm. I would at least double your carry weight as fast as you can, and it’s going to probably be your best long-term investment.
Health (A-Tier) – I mean, you are going to have to fight things in this game, and you need to not die in order to do so. Periodic investments in health as you reach higher levels are going to be a must to survive fights, in conjunction with the actual gear you wear. So no, certainly don’t ignore it. I have mine higher as I’ve been going pretty hard at some bosses.
Stamina (B-Tier) – You definitely want some early on, but don’t go too crazy with it. Running, gliding, will get less annoying with at least a bit of investment.

Palworld Stats to Avoid
Attack (D-Tier) – Yes, I am skipping down a tier. Attack has a very poor return on investment. Very late in the game, that may change, but at that point, you’ll have so many stat increases it doesn’t really matter. But these early points? No. Most of the damage you do will absolutely come from your pals.
Work Speed (Z-Tier) – No, just no. You are going to be away from your base 70% of the time, and the other 30%, you should rarely stand around holding a button to make things yourself. You will get potions and gear for automatic increases to this stat, and you should not bother wasting points, especially key early ones, on this at all.
Defense (N/A) – Not really a point to putting this here. As you may see, you cannot put points here at all (this didn’t used to be the case, as I recall), and that stat will be due to gear and bonuses alone.
How to Respec in Palworld
Screw this up? Good news and bad news. The good news is that you can respec in Palworld. The bad news is that you cannot do it until a very high level, and it costs a ton.
Memory Wiping Medication – You need a bunch of stuff for this. Level 43, an Electric Medicine Workbench, 50 Aquatic Pal Fluids, 50 Bones, 50 Horns and 99 Beautiful Flowers. That will reset everything, and you can feel free to re-arrange. But yeah, it ain’t cheap, and you can’t do it right away.
