Genesis Scottish Open: Bettor wins over $4 million off long-shot Tom Kim’s victory

Tom Kim (17-under) posted a 6-under 64 in his final round on Sunday to win the Genesis Scottish Open, the event preceding the British Open — the final golf major of the year, taking place at Royal Birkdale. It was Kim’s first victory since 2023.

One bettor was very happy to see Kim come out on top.

A bettor at DraftKings Sports wagered a healthy $47,700 on Kim to win the tournament at 84-1 odds, and cashed the ticket for over $4 million when Kim won by two strokes over Min Woo Lee (15-under). The bettor earned $4,006,800.

Kim finished third at the U.S. Open in June, but has missed the cut at his previous two British Open starts. He entered the week No. 66 in the Official World Golf Rankings and earned $1.575 million for his win.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the world, went into the tournament as the favorite at around +500 odds, but missed the cut on Friday — the first time since 2022 that he failed to make the cut at a PGA Tour event. He had made a remarkable 78 consecutive cuts.
