Paddy Pimblett was confident that he’d finish Benoit Saint Denis quickly if he tried to grapple.

Pimblett submitted Saint Denis in less than a minute to return to the win column with his most impressive victory to date.

Various analysts were backing Pimblett to win the striking exchanges in order to bounce back from his first loss inside the Octagon.

However, ‘The Baddy’ knew that his opponent would be in for a quick night if he played right into the hands of the submission specialist.

Paddy Pimblett said he’d submit Benoit Saint Denis quickly if he tried to grapple

Only five strikes landed in the co-main event of UFC 329 before Paddy Pimblett submitted Benoit Saint Denis less than a minute into the bout.

Pimblett has admitted regret over not trying to take Justin Gaethje down more in their interim lightweight title fight at the start of the year.

He believed that this wouldn’t be an issue for him on July 11 due to his opponent’s tendency to try and implement his wrestling.

When speaking on the UFC weigh-in show shortly after he stepped on the scales, ‘The Baddy’ perfectly predicted how the matchup would play out.

“If he wants to grapple, I think he’s going to try and grapple because he does it with every fight he’s ever had,” he said. “He throws his back kick and shoots in or his back hand and shoots in. If he does that with me, I can see him getting choked pretty quick.”

Just as Pimblett explained, Saint Denis threw a high kick with his back leg just over ten seconds into the first round before shooting for his opponent’s legs.

The Brit is certainly no stranger to opponents doing this and immediately threatened with a submission before securing the victory after some adjustments.
